If you are expert in coding then you can edit your theme code to customize your website header and footer. But if you are not good at coding then don’t try to edit theme code. That may crash your website and pages. To edit theme code you need to go to the following menu option. You will find this on your wp-admin.
- WP-Admin > Appearance > Theme Editor
Whenever you will access this menu option you will get a warning not to edit theme code. So ensure whether you can edit the theme correctly or not.

Build Your Own Template
Using Elementor or the plugin above you can create your own template. There are plenty of header and footer template in Elementor library. You can use one of them to go ahead or you can create one yourself. To build your own template go to plugin option of Elementor and click add new. Then add required element from the left menu. If you use any of the above plugin (I suggest to use the 3rd plugin because it supports Elementor) you can go to the plugin option and create your own template from there.
Use Global Header and Footer
You can use a single header and a single footer all over the website. To use a header or footer globally you need to use a plugin. I suggest to use “Elementor – Header, Footer & Blocks Template” plugin. You can make and use a global plugin with this plugin. This plugin has options to choose:
- Custom Template Name
- Types of Template (Header, Footer or Block)
- Display Page (All page, Front Page, Support Page, 404 Page and so many options)
- Add Exclusion Rule (You can set All page except your desired pages)

To Use your template as global header and global footer set the “Display on” to “All Pages”. If you want not to show this on homepage then exclude front page.
